Different people appreciate cars for different reasons. Since the release of the new 2012 models, some of the most talked about cars were considered cool for their sporty features and flair, others for their performance. Ten of the top-rated cars by our survey of employees include the:
2012 McLaren MP4-12C
2012 Porsche 911 Turbo S Edition 918 Spyder
2012 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster
2012 Audi S5
2012 Koenigsegg Agera
2012 Pagani Huayra
2012 Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4
2012 Aston Martin Virage
2012 Porsche Boxster S Black Edition
2012 Porsche 911 GT2 RS
2012 Ferrari 458 Italia
2012 Lexus LFA.
The 2012 lineup of sporty vehicles includes some that are traditionally known for such flair as well as some that are not generally seen in this light. Among the more non-traditional cars in the lineup are the Porsche 911 and Aston Martin model. Some crazy, ultra sporty models include the Lexus LFA, and Ferrari 458 Italia. The 2012 Audi S5 is a beautiful vehicle to say the least, though it is not really as fast as the others on the list. The luxurious leather seating, panorama sunroof and automatic climate control features make it a best buy for luxury and comfort though, and make up for it.
Porsche has come out with a variety of top of the line models for 2012. These include the 2012 Porsche 911 Turbo S Edition 918 Spyder, 2012 Porsche Boxster S Black Edition and 2012 Porsche 911 GT2 RS. The carbon-fiber interior and exterior along with color designs make the Porsche 911 Turbo S Edition 918 Spyder an eye catcher. Despite the long name, the usual small, nifty frame joins the other Porsche models in being built for speed. It also comes with a heavy price tag as expected. This is not a starter car for sure. The 2012 Porsche Boxster S Black Edition is a bit more affordable; and to many, this masterpiece is even more attractive (better, easier handling and driveability). However, this is a limited production vehicle so no doubt avid sports car lovers will be lining up to test or buy one for themselves. This new top-of-the-line Boxster has a top speed of 170 mph and so secures for itself a place among the best of the sports car lot.
Two of the less familiar names on this list–less familiar for those who are not gearheads–are the 2012 Koenigsegg Agera and the 2012 Pagani Huayra. Both are being hailed as supercars among supercars. These cars have undergone lots of testing and model revisions to arrive at their present form. A look at the design of these vehicles shows that aerodynamics definitely played a large part in the development. Some of the improvements over prior versions include making the vehicle lighter to increase efficiency. In fact, these are considered to be among the lightest in their class. No to worry though, these are still incredibly powerful vehicles.
Not to be overlooked are the 2012 Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 and the 2012 Aston Martin Virage. The Lamborghini Aventador was recently launched as the latest hypercar in the Lamborghini line. Like many others in its class it remains a two door, two-seater but it retails for almost $400,000 and is already sold out for the next year. Its main competitors, as discussed, include the McLaren MP4 and the Porsche 911 Turbo S. This car is considered to be completely new and so this partly explains all the hype around it. However, the hype is clearly justified as the design, power and over performance places it among the top tier of sporty cars for 2012.
