2013 Cadillac CTS Base AWD 4-Dr Wagon V6 Overview
2013 Cadillac CTS Overview
The 2013 Cadillac CTS tops the charts when rating interior space and luxury features. It is a large, midsize luxury sedan that is available as a sedan, coupe, or wagon. The would-be owner has a large variety of choices when choosing a new CTS because of the different body style, engine, and trim options that can be combined to create a luxury sedan that fits any lifestyle.
The 2013 Cadillac CTS comes with a 3.0-liter or 3.6-liter V-6 which lets the driver put an emphasis on fuel economy or power. Despite the choice, the EPA-estimated fuel economy will hover around 21 mpg combined. In addition to performance, the CTS comes standard with a long list of luxury items that some manufacturers don’t even offer as an optional feature.
New for 2013
- The base trim was eliminated from the trim options
- Only the automatic transmission is offered now
- Some optional features are now standard
The new 2013 Cadillac CTS has evolved greatly but stayed true to the Cadillac look. It has changed it body style and design to be much more dramatic, including much sharper edges that have a much more aggressive look than before. The front and rear have V-shaped ends that include long and upswept head and tail lights, all brought together by blade-like fenders. The 2013 Cadillac CTS is an attractive vehicle that is modern and fierce.
The 2013 Cadillac CTS is available in three body styles and three trim levels. The body styles include the sedan, coupe, and wagon and the trim levels include the 3.0 Luxury, 3.6 Performance, and 3.6 Premium. 17-inch alloy wheels come standard but a CTS Touring package replaces those with 18-inch wheels and adds dual exhaust pipes, an increase in horsepower, the FE2 sport-tuned suspension, adaptive xenon headlights, and a new grille. The 3.6 Premium trim includes the Touring package as well as adding a panoramic sunroof. The Performance and Premium trims can be equipped with a different Performance package that adds larger 19-inch wheels with sport tires, an upgraded FE3 sport-tuned suspension, a limited-slip rear differential and upgraded brakes. Recaro front sport seats are included with the CTS Touring package for the Premium trim level, which includes all the features described above.
Interior & Cargo
The interior is one of the most highly reviewed parts about the new CTS because of its never-ending supply of luxury features. Standard features include heated mirrors, automatic climate control, a rearview camera, heated power front seats, leather seating, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, interior accent lighting, Bluetooth, and a Bose audio system. The Touring package adds a suede steering wheel and unique trim. The 3.6 Performance adds an upgraded Bose audio system, digital music storage, and an iPod/USB interface. The 3.6 Premium adds rear parking sensors, a cabin deodorizer, a heated and power-adjustable steering wheel with wood accents, a navigation system, and a pop-up touch screen interface. The trunk offers a decent amount of storage space at 13.6 cubic feet but its awkward shape makes bulky items difficult to fit.
Standard safety features include anti-lock brakes, automatic headlights, automatic windshield wipers, traction control, stability control, front-seat side airbags, full curtain airbags, and active front head restraints. OnStar is also included which offers many emergency and security services. It received the best rating possible of five stars in all government crash tests.
The 2013 Cadillac CTS takes on corners and turns with all the athleticism and agility that you would expect. Its sport-tuned suspension and tight steering ensure you feel in complete control of the car at all times. The CTS is fairly larger though so its girth does become noticeable during very tight turns or quick corners at higher rates of speed. The upgraded FE2 and FE3 sport suspensions are very firm but that is expected with sport-tuned, premium suspensions.
The 3.0-liter V-6 rated at 265 hp and 220 lb-ft of torque is standard on all 3.0 models. However the Touring package will bump those numbers up to 270 hp and 223 lb-ft of torque with the upgraded exhaust. The 3.6 models feature a 3.6-liter V-6 capable of 318 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is the only option for both models; however the standard rear-wheel-drive layout can be substituted for an all-wheel-drive system for the 3.6 models. Even though there is a major size difference between both engine options and there are two drivetrain layouts, the EPA-estimated fuel economy fluctuates between 21 and 22 mpg.
