Overview
The 2012 Nissan Maxima is a great alternative to the more pricey luxury sedans that are out on the market today. The Maxima is high quality with strong interior features. Additionally, it boasts great acceleration which can make it really fun to drive! This car also gets great gas mileage even though it has enough get up and go to be the quickest car on the road at times–You can expect 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. For 2012 there is a new look for the grill and tail lights which makes its style look a bit more flashy. Available in two different trim levels, the Maxima will run you between $32,000 and $35,000.
Pricing
The lower of the two trim levels is the 2012 Nissan Maxima 3.5S and costs around $32,000.
The 3.5SV is the upgraded trim level of the Maxima. In total, to drive a brand new 3.5SV you will probably be looking at spending around $35,000, which isn’t a bad price considering all the things you’ll get for your money. Not only is the 3.5SV packed with all the standard features of the 3.5S but it also has additional things such as satellite radio. More sought after upgrades include fog lights, leather seats, a nine speaker sound system, and a touch screen control panel. All of these options are things that you may expect to find on a higher priced luxury sedan, not the 2012 Nissan Maxima, but you do.
Specs
The 2012 Nissan Maxima 3.5S comes standard with a 3.5L V6 engine which is known for its great fuel economy. The many basic features that come in the 3.5S include Bluetooth and MP3 capability. Even though this is the entry level model there are some more advanced options and upgrades that come standard such as 18-inch wheels, a sunroof, cruise control, and climate control. These upgrades are things that you may not expect to find in the lowest trim package of any sedan, however, Nissan includes everything as standard on their 2012 Maxima.
In terms of performance the Maxima more than holds its own. Both trim levels come with the 3.5L V6 engine that is super quick and efficient. With this engine you will get 290 horsepower pushing you down the road. In fact, this engine is capable of doing 0-60 in 6.2 seconds which is faster than most vehicles in this class.
Review
The bottom line is that the 2012 Nissan Maxima is a great car that is perfect for a small family or a business person that feels the need to ride in style. Other cars in its class are the Volkswagen CC and the Dodge Charger with which the Maxima compares favorably with.
When you put your car into reverse the camera will automatically be activated. You will be able to clearly see what is behind you through the screen that is in your center console. This is nice if you have kids or if you live in an area where kids play a lot. This camera will virtually eliminate the possibility of you running into something when your car is in reverse.
Safety
The safety features are another big plus for the 2012 Nissan Maxima. There are a few features that come standard on all of these vehicles that really help give the driver peace of mind while they’re behind the wheel. Anti-lock disc brakes, stability and traction control, front side airbags, and side curtain airbags are all present as well. Another nice safety feature that the 3.5SV has is a rear camera that can be used for safely backing up.
