Overview

There is a lot to talk about when discussing the 2012 Mazda3. The fact of the matter is that a new 2.0L engine is being introduced, and there are an expanded selection of trim levels, as well as, revisions to the interior and exterior. This is a lot to be excited about! The best part is that a new Mazda3 won’t even cost you that much when compared to other cars in the class. A new Mazda3 will run you between $15,000 and $23,000. Depending on which of the ten trim levels you choose, you are sure to get a fair deal.

Pricing

The iSV is considered the basic model of the Mazda3 and it costs right around $15,000. The engine is small and economical, yet quick enough to provide an adequate amount of power when needed.

The 2012 Mazda3 iTouring model will cost a few more thousand more than the iSV but you will also be getting some pretty significant upgrades. For more buck you can also switch from a manual transmission into an upgraded automatic one.

The iGrand Touring is an upgrade to the iTouring and will cost about $22,500. However, you will be getting a bit more for your money. Though the engine is the same size, features such as navigation are added with the iGrand Touring model. In addition to that, you will also have the MP3 option and Bluetooth options as well. If you want to opt for a slightly bigger engine you can go for the sGrand Touring. It is also worth mentioning the iTouring Hatchback. The hatchback will cost right around $22,000 as well, but features a bit more space in the back for carrying cargo. This is something that some people prefer over the standard look of a typical Mazda3.

Specs

If you opt for the 2012 Mazda3 iSV model you will be getting a 2.0L 4-cylinder manual engine. This trim level is a popular option among many drivers because the gas mileage is so superb. The 2.0L engine will give you 148 horsepower which is plenty for you to get around with. Furthermore, the engine is somewhat explosive as you can go from 0-60 in just under 10-seconds.

The iTouring model comes with the same size engine but you will have an automatic transmission as well as Bluetooth technology included. Keep in mind, a manual transmission is also available here as well.

The 2012 Mazda3 iGrand Touring engine is a 2.5L 4-cylinder. This engine will give you a bit more get up and go when you are out on the open roadways. The only drawback of the bigger engine is that you will get about 10 less mpg on the highway and 6 less when in the city.

Review

The verdict is that the Mazda3 is a safe, sporty, and just a fun car in general. It is perfect for new and young drivers that want the look and feel of a nice sports car. However, it is also functional enough so that a small family would look good in it while running errands around town. Keep in mind, the iTouring Hatchback car will provide you with a little bit of a different look but you will still get the same upgrades and results.

The bottom line is that when compared to the Volkswagen Jetta or the Mitsubishi Lancer it is clear that the Mazda3 has a lot to offer as well.

Safety

When driving the Mazda3 you can always feel safe as there are some pretty nice standard safety features that are included. You will get anti-lock brakes on all models in addition to stability and traction control, brake assist, front side airbags and side curtain airbags.
